XML is the new global language of the World Wide Web.

Apply XML and win XL prizes!

CISCO Systems Middle East invites you to enter this exciting competition providing a unique opportunity for individuals and corporations to gain experience in the use of XML for developing business applications.

Cisco uses the XML language to implement IP Phone applications, or 'Services' on the latest generation of Cisco IP Phones. IP Phone Services are applications written in scripts enabling IP phones to acquire and display targeted information. Anyone with a basic understanding of XML and Web development can develop IP Phone Services.

Although simple Services can be constructed purely in XML, very often other web technologies are used to create the XML coding dynamically (such as the ASP, Perl and PHP scripting languages), allowing much more functionality and flexibility. This is the method that will be used in this contest.

More information about the XML application specification for these phones can be found in the IP Phone Services SDK (Software Development Kit) and FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) on the Cisco IP Phone Services website.
